Services

I started this journey 20 years ago with the goal of meeting the clients where they're at and working towards empowerment and transformative life coaching styles while using various evidence-based techniques. Whether you’re looking for a bit of counseling, or need professional assistance overcoming a traumatic experience - your well-being is my number one priority. I go above and beyond to cater to the needs of every patient with my personalized services.

Depression & Anxiety Therapy

Mixed Anxiety-Depressive Disorder is a mental health condition in which an individual experiences symptoms of depression and symptoms of anxiety at the same time. I have treated severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) including Bipolar 1 and 2, phobias, and mental health disorders for the last 20 years of my career. I have used evidence-based treatment modalities such as suggestions for evidenced-based clinical techniques such as Therapy coupled with antidepressant medications – Often combined with CBT, these may be prescribed in treating both disorders. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are new antidepressant drugs that produce fewer side effects than their predecessors. Exercise can also be very helpful for both disorders. Physical activity causes feel-good chemicals to be released in the body. This aids in relaxation and a feeling of well-being. More severe cases include treatments for Ketamine-based therapies in the local area.

Trauma & Grief Counseling

When thinking of ways to strengthen and build on your coping strategies, the first step is to start with compassion and empathy for yourself. Compassion can help to understand specific self-care and coping strategies. Take a moment and think about the ways you take care of your body, mind, and soul. I have found in my work experience that generational grief and soul trauma have played a huge part in the BIPOC and understanding of their grief-stricken experiences based on historical occurrences that have happened to a marginalized population over a period of time. In sitting with indigenous tribes across North and South America and listening to the tribal experiences we can address the deeply sole roots of all seeds planted for people of all races and how history has affected today's presentation and mindset of the duality of consciousness one perceives the world in. Here are areas to take stock of when coping with trauma grief through Physical health: nutrition, exercise, rest/sleep, mind-body: breathing, meditation, mindfulness,  and social support: solace and connection from friends, family, or support groups.

LGBTQIA & Gender Identity Counseling

I specialize in issues that focus on LGBTQ populations, such as transgender and bisexual individuals, sexual minority youth, and older adults, and psychotherapy modalities informed by a number of clinical and theoretical approaches. I offer compassionate strengths-based solutions and unconditional positive regard and guidance to those who need to expand their knowledge of LGBTQ-related mental health issues and also provide those with existing knowledge an opportunity to refine their coping skills and sharpen their thinking. Queer Affirmative Therapy focuses on affirming the client's identity and sexual orientation. In counseling for the LGBTQ, the therapist focuses on helping the individual life and accept their most authentic selves. LGBTQ psychotherapy helps the individual develop their own identity as a queer person.

Substance Use Dependency Treatment

I use all the modalities when approaching the imbalance of addiction of use, abuse, or dependency.  I do not use a "one-size approach" at all.  Different strokes for different folks.  With a combination of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for a Whole Patient Approach., Motivational Interviewing Versus Confrontational Speeches, Support and Encouragement Through Group Therapy, and Individual Addiction Therapy anything is possible in terms of recovery. There are hundreds and now with virtual telehealth thousands of 12-step support groups and meetings for anything from sex and love addiction, drugs and alcohol, al-anon, codependency, and adult children of alcoholic and or dysfunctional families. Fears, anxieties, and tendencies toward depression are managed by seeking out their root causes. Once uncovered, patients learn how to take control of their emotions and life.
